Reflective tape prices vary because quotations may cover different materials, reflective requirements, dimensions, adhesives, processing, packaging and delivery terms. Before comparing the price per roll, check whether the offers describe the same product and scope of supply.
For distributors, vehicle-marking businesses and project buyers, a useful comparison begins with a written specification and an approved sample. The following seven checks help turn a broad request for “reflective warning tape” into quotations you can assess.
The 7 Items to Compare
| Comparison item | What to put on the quotation request |
|---|---|
| Material and construction | Exact model, face material, protective layers and adhesive |
| Reflective requirement | Which colors must reflect and what documented performance is required |
| Dimensions and pattern | Width, actual roll length, color spacing and repeat |
| Thickness | Layers included in the measurement and agreed tolerance |
| Adhesive and application | Receiving surface, exposure conditions and sample evaluation |
| Customization and packing | Artwork, converting, labels, individual packs and cartons |
| Quantity and quotation basis | Order quantity, currency, named delivery place and included charges |
1. Material and Layer Construction
Ask for the exact product model and construction. PET tape, PVC-based tape and PVC tape with a PET protective surface film should not be treated as identical simply because their colors or patterns look similar.
Record the face material, additional protective layers and adhesive in the request. A material name alone does not establish a product’s outdoor life, reflective grade or value. Compare the complete specification rather than assuming one polymer is always more expensive or better.

2. Which Colors Must Be Reflective?
For a two-color tape, specify whether both colors must be reflective. Both the red and yellow sections of the sample pictured here are reflective. When requesting another color combination, state the requirement for each colored section.
If your project requires measured reflective performance or particular documents, include those requirements before requesting prices. A similar daytime appearance does not demonstrate equivalent performance, and a photograph cannot replace a numerical test result.
Our red and yellow reflective tape buying guide includes actual product, ruler and illuminated-sample photographs. For the difference between reflective markings and ordinary warning tape, read our comparison guide.
3. Width, Roll Length and Pattern
Confirm width and length with units. A 50 mm × 45 m roll and a 50 mm × 50 m roll contain different lengths of tape, so their prices per roll are not directly equivalent.
For the same width and an otherwise comparable specification, price per linear meter can help normalize the comparison. For example, a hypothetical USD 4.50 roll containing 45 m and a hypothetical USD 5.00 roll containing 50 m both work out to USD 0.10 per meter. These figures illustrate the calculation only; they are not Xingyuan selling prices.
Also identify diagonal direction, color-block dimensions and pattern repeat. A custom repeat or cutting layout needs to be included in the quoted scope rather than left to a photograph.

4. Thickness and Measurement Basis
Ask whether the stated thickness includes the removable release liner. A value for finished adhesive tape cannot be directly compared with a value that also includes the liner.
Write the measurement basis on the specification: which layers are included, the unit used and the agreed tolerance. If thickness is a purchasing limit, evaluate the proposed sample against that limit. A thicker tape is not automatically a better choice for every application.
5. Adhesive and the Intended Surface
Tell the supplier where the tape will be applied. Include the receiving surface and relevant exposure or handling conditions, rather than requesting only a generic “strong adhesive.”
Ask what adhesive information and application guidance are available for the selected model. Agree how the sample will be evaluated on the intended surface. If a project calls for a particular adhesion test, include the method and acceptance requirement in the inquiry so suppliers are quoting against the same expectation.
6. Custom Processing and Packaging
Custom colors, printing, roll dimensions, die-cut shapes, labels and packaging should be listed separately where they affect the scope. Confirm what the quoted price includes and whether sample or setup charges apply.
One roll in an individual retail pack and one roll supplied in bulk packaging are different packing specifications. Compare rolls per carton, carton dimensions, labels and any additional packing requirements as well as the tape itself.

7. Quantity and Quotation Terms
Request comparisons at the same order quantity, currency and specification. Ask suppliers to identify minimum order quantity, sample costs, any one-time charges and quotation validity.
Confirm the delivery term and named place or port. For an EXW, FOB or other offer, ask for a clear list of included and excluded charges. Do not assume that a lower product figure represents a lower total purchasing cost when the delivery scope differs.
Production lead time, payment terms and shipment arrangements should also be recorded. Use the current written quotation for the selected order; an older offer or an article example is not a standing price commitment.
A Simple Quote-Comparison Checklist
- Same product: exact model, material construction, colors and reflective requirement.
- Same measurements: width, length, thickness basis, pattern dimensions and tolerances.
- Same application: surface, environment and agreed sample checks.
- Same processing: artwork, cutting, labels and custom requirements.
- Same packing: individual packaging, carton quantity and shipping marks.
- Same commercial basis: quantity, currency, delivery scope and additional charges.
Keep one approved sample and the agreed specification with the order record. If a supplier proposes an alternative material, dimension or packing format, assess that change explicitly before comparing the revised price.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the lowest price per roll always the best offer?
Assess it against the required product and delivery scope. A lower price may describe a different length, construction, packing format or set of included charges. Ask for those differences to be made clear.
Can I request several color combinations?
Yes. Send the required colors, layout and quantity for each option. Xingyuan can review the customization request and confirm available constructions, sample arrangements and order requirements.
Can Xingyuan quote from a photo?
A photo helps identify the appearance, but add dimensions, quantity, application, destination and any performance requirements. For patterned tape, include a drawing or ruler reference and identify which colors must reflect.
Request a Specification-Based Quotation
Send your product reference, material or model if known, width and length, color pattern, quantity, application surface, packaging requirements and destination. Our copyable quotation checklist helps organize the details. You can also browse reflective tape options or read our B2B order-planning guide.
